About Travel Things Museum
Travel Things Museum is a London-based non-profit organisation focused on global travel, culture, and discovery. Our goal is to educate and inspire people – not only about different places, peoples, and cultures, but also about their interconnections. We do this by curating interesting exhibits of “things” encountered travelling, which we present utilising a range of analog and digital media to produce regular publications and host in-person exhibits, seminars, and talks in London and internationally.
our Philosophy
Our love of art, design, and cultural exchange guides our philosophy as much as our passion for travel does.
If we see so far however, it is - to paraphrase Sir Isaac Newton - by standing on the shoulders of giants. Our philosophical influences are as diverse as our membership. You can count Thomas Fuller, a seventeenth century English clergyman and historian, as one. He wrote: “Travel Far, Know Much.” The father of American literature, Mark Twain, represents another major influence. He wrote that travel broadens the mind and proves “fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness”. We find inspiration also in Thomas Merton, a 20th century Trappist monk, who opined: “Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” We could not agree more.
